An update on the game from E3 2006! Will it be a GameCube title, or a Wii launch title? The answer may surprise you.

What's so special? Twilight Princess will be one of the first Wii titles, and no doubt it will drive sales of the console if the game is as good as it appears to be.

Developer track record: The Legend of Zelda series has been one of the most consistent hit producers in videogames, selling more than 47million units since the 1986 release of the first Zelda game.

Shrieks of anguish rise from the Nintendo faithful every time Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess gets delayed again. With a brand new console on the way and the industry’s eyes on them at E3 it is put up or shut up time for the Big “N.” One of the biggest concerns among Zelda fans was that Princess wouldn’t appear on the dying GameCube console and that it would be a next-generation launch title. Those fears were only somewhat assuaged this week when Nintendo announced the highly anticipated game would be available on both consoles the day of the Wii launch.

The Wii controller promises incredible functionality that can be used for more realistic feeling swordfights and bow shots. It’s hard to imagine anything the GameCube version could offer that would make it more appealing than the Wii Twilight Princess.

The game won numerous “Best in Show” honors at E3 2005, further increasing the disappointment when it was postponed from a holiday 2005 launch date and then again when it was pushed back from a spring release.

The series is famous for gameplay existing in two “separate worlds.” Super Nintendo’s A Link to the Past features transitions between the “Light” and “Dark” worlds while the Game Boy adventure The Minish Cap allowed Link to shrink, giving him a much different perspective on the world. In this game Link will enter the “Twilight” world in which he will apparently transform into a wolf. This perspective will give Link other abilities such as the skill to speak with animals. Whenever it comes out, it’s certain to be a blockbuster.
