Super Mario Galaxy

The third and final galaxy was the most traditional in terms of past Mario games. This one took place almost entirely on one planet and came complete with its own blue sky and set of unique enemies for me to stomp on. The most interesting aspect of this world however comes in the form of a striped mushroom that will transform Mario into a bee. While in bee form, you can make Mario fly for a short period of time by holding the A button.

Being a bee also allows Mario to use flower platforms that would simply disappear if Mario jumped on them while wearing his trademark blue overalls. This galaxy focused primarily on using Bee Mario to climb up what seemed like a giant honeycomb and meet the Queen Bee. Upon your arrival, the Queen pleads with Mario to help find out what is making her so damn itchy. By using Bee Mario to fly up to and climb on the Queen’s hairy exterior, you will find pieces of a Star Cannon which, when put together, will launch you to the location of this galaxy’s star.

Overall I walked away extremely satisfied with how Super Mario Galaxy turned out. The game is absolutely gorgeous, the level/galaxy design is brimming with creativity, and best of all, it plays as good as it looks. Mark down November 12 on your calendars Wii owners, because Super Mario Galaxy is going to be out of this world.
