European WiiWare Launch Detailed

Launches on May 20 along with around eight games.


Nintendo of Europe today confirmed that the long-awaited download service for the Wii, entitled WiiWare, will be launching across Europe later this month on May 20.

"We are excited by the positive response we have received from third party developers to the announcement of WiiWare,” said Laurent Fischer, Managing Director of Marketing & PR of Nintendo of Europe.

“We hope that this opportunity and the inspiration to produce original and exciting games will allow developers of all sizes to bring new concepts, genres and game play experiences to Wii."
A precise list of titles set to be available on day one has yet to be confirmed, but we do know that the following eight titles will be available on or soon after May 20:
Dr. Mario & Germ Buster (Nintendo)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Square Enix)
Lost Winds (Frontier)
Pirates: The Key of Dreams (Oxygen Interactive)
Pop (Nnooo)
Star Soldier R (Hudson Soft)
Toki Tori from (Two Tribes)
TV Show King (Gameloft)
