Earlier this year Sega announced that the latest installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise will arrive later this year in the form of Sonic Unleashed for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and the Wii.
Plot-wise, Sonic Unleashed focuses on the blue blur's quest to undo Dr. Eggman/Robotnik's evil work and “put the pieces of the world back together” using the power of the Chaos emeralds.
Gameplay will change depending on whether the player is playing during the day or at night, with the former focused on the usual high-speed chases and ring-collecting, etc., and the latter focused on combat.
Currently slated for a "late 2008 launch," you can take a sneak-peak at the game right now by checking out the screenshots above this post. Simply click on the thumbnails to be taken to the high-resolution images.
